ABOUT LIZE VAN DER WALT

Lize Van der Walt was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed School in Johannesburg at Helpmekaar Girls High School and received 96% for her art practical exam. In 1986 she obtained a National Diploma in Graphic Design at Witwaterstrand Technicon. Lize worked in Graphic Design for 3 years and then started her own design studio in Auckland park called 'Team Design'. 

In 1991 Lize immigrated to London, England, where she took a break from her art career and worked as an aerobic instructor and personal trainer. She also joined the TV series 'Gladiators' for London weekend television as a gladiator named 'Gold'. Unfortunately an injury during the first season ended her career as a  famous Gladiator. 

In 2000 Lize had her first solo exhibition on the trendy Kings Road in central London, England. In 2003 she returned to her home country, South Africa. Her work has been exhibited all over the country throughout the years and in 2013 she opened up her own art gallery where she also resides with her son, Michael. She welcomes commissions and has done work for clients all over the world. 

Presently she works from her studio in Hermanus, South Africa where her focus is painting.
